Halloween and Update

It is almost that time of year already! If you are interested in helping with our Halloween party, please follow the link below. Thank you in advance for your help! https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090B4AABA723AA8-halloween1 Halloween day we will participate in our annual parade through the classrooms and parent viewing is in the gym where TK / K students will be stationed to watch the parade as well. No blood/ gore or weapons are allowed with costumes.  Please have your child bring the costume in a bag on Halloween day, we will get ready in the afternoon. Also, if there are parts that you are afraid of losing prior to Trick-Or-Treat they may be left at home. I can't wait to see all of the kids in costume! Friday is School Store. Students may shop at the School Store after they eat their lunch. We have finished reading  Fantastic Mr. Fox , by Roald Dahl. This week we will be watching the movie in order to compare and contrast it with the book. We will also write opinion pieces

Hat day / Orange and Blue day

Good morning! Student council is sponsoring a hat day this Friday.  Students can bring $1 and wear a hat to school on Friday.  The money collected will be sent to the American Red Cross for Hurricane Michael relief.  I am sorry for the short notice. Remember every Friday is Orange and Blue day!  Thursday we have a kickoff assembly for Brainstormers. This is our annual set of assemblies paid for by box tops for Education. The one in the spring is a favorite as it showcases stories written by our own DES students. This assembly will help get us inspired to "Think it Up and Write it Down!" It will start first thing in the morning. So ask your child about it tomorrow. Remember to keep sending in box tops all year to contribute to the success of this experience.  The little baggies with a note on it yesterday came from the Book Fair. Funds raised will go toward purchasing books for students and our school.  Thanks, and have a great day!

Club Forms and more

I hope everyone enjoyed this beautiful day! Be sure to check your child's backpack if they are interested in signing up for after school clubs. The forms are DUE WEDNESDAY OCT 10!  so get them back ASAP. A new homework page was also sent today. These are due back each Monday. (Send in Tuesday if you forgot, we are all getting into routine.) Every Friday at DES will be orange and blue day, so students have a chance to show their school spirit each week!
